REAL Hostel Work Exchange Program Terms:

REAL strives to place you in your first preference location. However, if there is no availability during the time you would like to do your program, then the second or third preference will subsequently be offered to you. Each hostel position will offer different terms of the work exchange, either shared or private dorm and sometimes food depending on the hours that you are required to assist in the hostel. Once you accept the offer and the terms and conditions of your work exchange position, you will be officially accepted into the program.

Communication and montivation to help in the success of the hostel, is important for the success of the program. This is a program that gives you the freedom to make a difference in a multicultural and dynamic environment.

 

Minimun time of the work exchange:

Each hostel position will require a minimun commitment for the REAL volunteer participant to assist in their hostel. This ranges from 1-month to 3-months and this is to ensure that you have enough time to be trained and to use those acquired skills and knowledge and also ensures adequate time to learn about your location and culture. Most positions are flexible and will give you a few days off to explore the region. 

 

Application Process and Payments:

The official acceptance into the REAL Hostel Work Exchange Program is combined with the signed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions and the deposit of the program fee of $150 USD. After receiving the deposit and signed Terms and Conditions REAL Hostel Work will finalise the arrangement your REAL Hostel Work Exchange position.

The deposit can be made online via Paypal.

Once the deposit is received, a letter of acceptance will be emailed to the participant.

Requirements for the REAL Hostel Work Exchange Program:

Requirements differ depending on the opening. Minimum age is 18 and excellent knowledge of the English language is required. A working Spanish knowledge is required, in order to be able to communicate with guests and colleagues.

Inscription deadline:

Most hostel work exchange openings are bound to certain dates. This should be considered when applying.
REAL Hostel Work strives to arrange adequate working exchange positions for their participants. The participant agrees to inform REAL Hostel Work immediately, if they do not want to use the arrangement prior to the start date.

As soon as a work exchange offer is accepted and confirmed by the participant, the work exchange opening will be binding and reserved and the participant can begin travel plans.

Course of Program:

The participant is responsible for the success of his/her work exchange program. They should take any opportunity to gain work experience, skills, and abilities. The participant has to work carefully on given tasks; carry out instructions from the hostel hosts; respect work rules, equipment and all products, and observe the working hours. Participants must adhere to "volunteer ethics" and preserve this inherent essence throughout their work exchange program.

Requests for a quick travel vaction or extended weekends must be discussed with the employer.
 

Insurance and Visa:

The participant is responsible for taking out travel insurance against damages, accidents and illness for the extension of their stay. This also includes the arrival and departure. It is the sole responsibility of the participant to take care of all necessary preparations of visas, insurance, and/or vaccinations.
